Kaštanek wine bar is a cozy little cellar on the eastern tip of the old town. There are just 4 tables below that can seat 6-7 people. Wine is offered direct from the barrel or from a bottle. If you purchase a litre carafe of wine, you’re very likely to receive a complimentary dish of ‘sádlo’ (lard) and some bread, a sample of the local culture and cuisine.
A mix of local people frequent this little place either to sit and have a drink or to purchase take away wine in a plastic bottle. You might even be lucky like we were once and witness a couple of nuns come in dressed in full habit!
The staff are very friendly and may be able to muster up a few words of English or German. The music is usually provided by the radio, which is the only drawback worth mentioning. Prices per 200ml glass are from 20-30Kc.
